After much flip flipping to various venues a COVID compliant six headed down to Dartmoor on Saturday morning.
The (loose) brief was single pitch trad with a chance for new members to mingle (distanced of course).
This was a non official club trip but could form a template for future trips.
We met at Chudleigh on Saturday morning and then changed plans to Haytor to enjoy the view whilst the weather was good.
After a token route and some gear placement practice we were beaten back by the wind to a sheltered afternoon at Chudleigh.
Finishing by head torch we headed back on to the moor to a starlit camp somewhere NW of Haytor.
Day two dawned and after a luxurious coffee in Bovey Tracey we drove to the Dewerstone.
Apart from the occasional light shower the weather was perfect.
The COVID measures trialled included Buffs up at belays. Maybe an AMC buff could work?
Campsites now have drastically reduced space, making responsible wild camping a good choice. Dartmoor public toilets are open, as are the local pubs, chip shops etc.
Thanks to Will, Paul and Emma F from the AMC and prospective new members Charlie and Emma H.
