Rowberrow Cavern Expedition

Well done Grace for planning a very pleasant AMC Women’s day out. Myself, Alice, Anne, Kevser, and Annabelle met Grace at the Swann Inn which serves delicious food and is an excellent place to start and finish a walk. Off we went in search of the mystical Rowberrow Cavern which after some brief searching in the woods we did find as you can see. We also took the opportunity to do a little basic nav coaching.

Thanks goes to Annabelle for making a blown up laminated version of the map! Luckily it was quite a mild day and the rain held off until we were back in the pub enjoying their ‘loaded hash brows’ which we can thoroughly recommend. Also Kevser managed to find a dog with a very similar haircut that didn’t mind posing for a hair twin photograph.

Looks like a great day out. What's the rock type of the cave anyone know?

According to a Forestry England survey I just found, the area where the cavern is found is mostly mudstone and siltstone compared to the rest of the Mendips which is limestone
