On the 26-28th August, what was meant to be the AMC August Bank Holiday North Wales trip did a 180 degree U-turn prompted by the awful Welsh weather forecast and headed to Swanage – land of sunny adventurous sea cliffs. Over the two days, the team of eight – Max, Matt, Dylan, Maciej, Pete, Jake, Seb and Robin – had two superb long days climbing. Starting at Boulder Ruckle, climbing Finale Groove (HVS), Buzz Light Year (E1), Lightning Wall (HVS), Elysium (E1), Thunder Groove (HVS) and Gypsy (E2) (apologies if missed some off). Sunday also dawned sunny, the action moved to Guillemot where Sapphire (E2), The Spook (E1), Tensor II (VS), Valkyrie Buttress Direct (HVS) and Ledgend (HS) were climbed with the highlight being Matt’s impressive onsight of Necromancy, E4 5c. A shame we didn’t get to N.Wales but we felt we made the most of it and re-invigorated my interest to get back to Swanage. Thanks to Dylan for the great snaps!
